Snow Day
And one interesting thing for you to read.
Hi, friends.
Yesterday, my little city in upstate New York got about 18 inches of snow dumped on us overnight. Most of my day was spent shoveling and promptly falling asleep on the couch after. So I didn’t exactly get around to writing a newsletter for today.
That said, I did want to share a Scouting-related story that I found fascinating, and some of you may want to read:
Thrifty, Clean, and Brave: By Adam Goodheart
Each summer 20,000 shining paragons of American boyhood march into the wilderness of Philmont Scout Ranch to confront an age-old question: Can the anarchy of adolescence be tamed?
This piece is from Outside magazine in 2013, but so much of it still resonates today. The author does a really good job setting the stage for contemporary Scouting by highlighting really key pieces of its history. And he asks some thought-provoking questions about Scouting’s role in the 21st century.
So if you, like me, are stuck inside today, take some time and give it a read.
See you next week!
